ADP100 Series 1/4 - 5 HP

• General Description
• The Adaptable Drive Package ADP100 Series of D.C. motor controls provides a full range of speed and torque control for 1/4 - 5 HP shunt wound and permanent magnet D.C. motors. Designed for quality and performance, these drives are targeted for the OEM and Panel Builder to meet their system requirements. Two units cover the full horsepower range. The NEMA type K single phase power bridge is precisely controlled to give the best in speed and torque regulation. Quality components, conservative heat sinking, inner current loop design, unique high frequency gating, and modular construction all combine to produce dependability, simplified installation, and competitive pricing. The Adaptable Drive Package ADP100 Series of D.C. motor controls are also offered in models for Run-Brake and Contactor Reversing operation. Six models in two physical sizes cover a horsepower range from 1/4 to 5 HP. Each model is supplied chassis-only complete with an ADP102 or ADP105 motor control installed on the option chassis. In each horsepower range, the Run-Brake models are physically interchangeable with the Contactor Reversing models.




Blazer® Series 1/4 - 5 HP

• Take a closer look at the full featured BLAZER BDP400 Series by Carotron Inc. Finally, a real alternative in packaged DC drives. We have taken our standard of reliable, economical, and performance oriented D.C. drives and loaded them with an unprecedented list of standard features that make them attractive for a wide range of applications. One very important feature of the BLAZER BDP400 Series is control circuit isolation. The control circuit of each model is completely isolated from the power circuit. This isolation protects reference circuits and feedback circuits from possible damage due to accidental shorts to ground. Also this standard isolation greatly simplifies master reference, tachometer follower, and process control applications. Another primary feature is A.C. line contactors for safety disconnect during normal stop conditions. Logic in the BLAZER control circuit assures that current flow to the motor has ceased prior to de-energizing the contactors. This reduces electrical stress and increases contactor life. Blazer® IV Series 1/4 - 5 HP

Applications:
• General Description
• The Blazer IV Series of D.C. motor controls provide full-wave, four-quadrant regenerative speed or torque control for 1/4-5 HP shunt wound and permanent magnet D.C. motors.The BRC700 models are loaded with standard features that only Carotron could provide reliably.
• One very important feature of the Blazer IV series is control circuit isolation. The control circuit of each model is completely isolated from the power circuit.
• This isolation protects reference circuits and feedback circuits from possible damage due to accidental shorts to ground. Also, this standard isolation greatly simplifies master reference, tachometer follower and process control applications.

RCP200 Series 1/4 - 5 HP

General Description:
• The Regenerative Control Package RCP200 Series of D.C. motor controls provides full wave four quadrant regenerative speed or torque control for 1/4 through 5 HP shunt wound and permanent magnet D.C. motors. Designed for performance and quality, but remaining versatile and functional, the RCP200 provides the OEM and panel builder with maximum design capability. Two units cover the full horsepower range. Also, three contractor models are available with armature contractor, dynamic braking and start/stop logic. Innovative design techniques have eliminated normal problem areas often associated with multi-bridge designs necessary for regenerative control. These design techniques combined with Carotron's standard quality features result in a motor control possessing the highest level of performance.



  Choice® Series 5 - 150 HP


CDC300 Series 5 - 150 HP Motor Controls

General Description:
• The CHOICE CDC300 Series of non-regenerative D.C. motor controls provides a full range of speed or torque control for 5-150 HP D.C. motors rated for NEMA type ÒDÓ power. Five standard models are offered in a compact panel mount assembly. Each model is customer connectable for operation at 230 VAC or 460 VAC three phase input. When operated with 230 VAC input, each unit supplies variable armature voltage up to 240 VDC and a fixed field supply of 150 VDC. For operation with 460 VAC input, each model supplies up to 500 VDC for armature voltage and a fixed field supply of 300 VDC. Each CHOICE model is designed for maximum flexibility and ease of installation. Fuses are supplied for A.C. line protection, auxiliary line fuses for optional equipment, fuse protection for the 115 VAC control voltage input, and fusing for the field circuit. Standard relay logic interfaces separately supplied operators for Emergency Stop, Ramp Stop, Run Forward, Run Reverse, Jog Forward, anad Jog Reverse when the unit is operated with a separately supplied Forward armature contactor and a separately supplied Reverse armature contactor. A complete line of options are available. An accessory drive circuit monitor, Model DCM 100-000, is available to assist in set-up and troubleshooting by plugging into the control board to easily access 20 separate signals.   Elite® Series 5 - 500 HP


Series 5 - 300 HP DC Motor Control, Regenerative and Non-Regenerative

General Description:
• The Elite Series of D.C. motor controls provides full range speed and torque control of 5 - 300 HP D.C. motors rated for NEMA type C or D power supplies. The E06000 models provide six SCR non-regenerative control, while the E12000 models provide twelve SCR full four quadrant regenerative control. Ten E06000 and Ten E12000 basic models are offered in compact panel mounted assemblies to cover the 5 - 300 HP range.
• Each Elite model has an electrically isolated control circuit and is easily programmed for operation on 230 VAC, 380 VAC or 460 VAC line supplies. 230 VAC input models supply variable armature voltage up to 240 VDC and a fixed field supply of 150 VDC. 380 VAC input models supply variable armature voltage up to 415 VDC and a fixed field supply of 247 VDC. 460 VAC input models supply variable armature voltage up to 500 VDC with a fixed field at 300 VDC.
• All models of the Elite Series feature a field economy circuit. This circuit automatically reduces the field supply voltage by 35% when the drive is stopped for an adjustable time period of 1 minute to 3 minutes.
• Semiconductor fuses are provided for protection of the three phase A.C. line input. Auxiliary three phase fuses are provided for optional equipment and for the field supply. Also provided is fuse protection for the 115 VAC control voltage input.
• Standard relay logic in the Elite Series interfaces with customer supplied operators for Emergency Stop, Ramp Stop, Run, and Jog. Forward/Reverse direction control by a customer supplied selector switch is also available in the E12000 regenerative models. Logic is also supplied to interface a motor mounted thermostat and limit switches which can be used to lockout operation in either forward or reverse directions.
• Available options include contactor run/brake chassis models, braking resistors, disconnect switches, blower starters, and Nema 12 enclosures. Carotron also offers a hand held, plug-in drive circuit monitor, Model DCM100-000, which provides precise digital voltage readouts for 20 separate circuit signals to assist in setup and troubleshooting.


  Tracker Digital Series 1/4 - 3 HP


TKR800 Series 1/4 - 3 HP Digital Motor Control

General Description:
• The Carotron TRACKER TKR800 series of motor controls provides full range, single quadrant, digital speed control of shunt wound or permanent magnet D.C. Motors. Six TKR800 models, all NEMA 4 enclosed, are available to operate motors between 1/4 and 3 horsepower. Various models are offered with options that add a process follower interface (0 - 10VDC or 4 - 20 mADC), summing input or trim pot interface. The TKR802 models are customer connectable for operation at 115 VAC or 230 VAC single phase input. When operated at 115VAC input, each unit supplies variable armature voltage up to 90 VDC and a fixed field voltage of 100 VDC. For operation at 230 VAC input, each model supplies up to 180 VDC for armature voltage and a fixed field supply of 200 VDC. The TKR803 models are customer connectable for 230 VAC input operation only and has outputs of up to 180 VDC for the armature voltage and 200 VDC for the field voltage. The TRACKER can be programmed to operate as a Master or Follower. In Master Mode, the TRACKER uses actual motor speed (Feedback Input) and a digital setpoint input by the user to precisely control the speed of the motor. The digital loop of the TRACKER operates on a 10 ms control cycle which feeds into an analog velocity loop. Actual motor speed is read and the drive speed is corrected first by the inner velocity loop. The motor speed is then fine tuned to the digital setpoint by the outer digital control loop. The Digital Output Value (which is fed into the analog velocity loop) is made up of two parts: the Open Loop term, and the correction term or Trim Value. The open loop term is the ratio of the Reference Speed to Maximum Speed. This is the uncorrected Feed Forward part of the Output Value. The Reference Speed is the current Speed setpoint taking into account any acceleration or deceleration which may be in progress. The Maximum Speed is Max RPM Feedback which is set when scaling the unit. The correction term or Trim Value is derived from actual motor speed (Encoder Feedback Input) and the Reference Speed. The Trim Value is added to the Open Loop term when the Tracker is running Closed Loop to provide precise control. The Error Gain determines the rate at which the Trim Value changes in response to a motor loading or a sudden speed change. The Trim Value is updated every 10ms. It may be viewed as one of the programmable display options. In Follower Mode, the basic operation is the same except that the Reference Speed is generated as a ratio to the Lead Input speed.



  Elite®Pro Digital Series 5 - 150 HP


Series 5 - 150 HP Digital DC Motor Control, Regenerative and Non-Regenerative

General Description:
• Carotron, Inc. is proud to introduce the Elite®Pro, the latest addition to the Carotron Family of high performance, reliable, and rugged DC motor controls. Many years of research and development by Carotron's Engineering Staff have culminated in a drive series that provides quality, accuracy, flexibility and user friendliness not found in any other drive in the market place. The heart of the Elite®Pro is a high speed Digital Signal Processor (DSP) designed specifically for motor control applications. The speed and processing power of the DSP are further enhanced by the skillful use of five (5) additional co-processors to handle critical high speed timing functions as well as keypad and external communications. Therefore, the resulting design is very capable of handling basic control algorithms along with advanced algorithms for system functions such as PID Dancer Controls, Center Winder Controls, Tension Controls, and Customized Control Functions to meet user requirements. The power section design for the Elite®Pro follows the same conservative design practice that Carotron's customers have come to appreciate in all of Carotron's designs. We provide a regenerative and non-regenerative drive chassis package that is capable of full load operation in a 55¾ C ambient. Compare this to our competitors that design to ambient levels
• of 35¾ to 50¾ C. Standard customer interface to the Elite®Pro is via a four-line alphanumeric, backlighted LCD display. English text and menu screens with soft-keys simplify the drive programming and eliminates the need to memorize numeric codes. Field Economy and Supply Options

General Description:
• The Carotron Field Economy option, Model CDC3FE (right), is an optional field supply assembly for use with 3phase input D.C. motor control products.
• Model CDC3FE is designed to reduce the level of motor field current after the motor is stopped (Stand-by).

• The Carotron Field Supply option, Model CDC3FS-000 (left), is an optional field supply for use with 230 VAC, 3 Phase input D.C. motor control products.
• This model is designed to provide a field supply of 150 VDC or 240 VDC at 10 Amps maximum.
• The Model CDC3FS-000 is offered in a compact chassis design and is easily used with a wide range of motor control products as an alternate field supply.

Features:
• PID Control
• The VP5 with standard PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) provides true constant flow control for fan and pump applications. Many competitive products offer only P and I control. Offset and feed forward are easy to program and setup. Feedback inversion programmable.
• Unique Energy Savings
• Built-in Energy Savings software in the VP5 automatically reduces the output voltage to the motor during light load conditions. This allows the system to operate at its optimum efficiency. The drive is constantly performing real-time automatic tuning to adjust the voltage even to compensate for temperature variations. • Low Noise Operations
• Most manufacturers of PWM drives have made the conversion to IGBT's (Insulated Gate Bi-Polar Transistors) in the inverter section. This allows for higher carrier frequencies which reduce the motor acoustical noise. Only the VP5 through its unique asynchronous carrier frequency technique, ASIPM (Application Specific Intelligent Power Module) and third generation IGBT's allows a motor noise level equal to across-the-line operation.
• Standard DC Link Choke
• Many customer specifications are calling for input AC line reactors. The VP5 has a built-in DC link choke as standard from 30 - 250 HP or available as an external option from 0.75 - 25 HP. This DC link choke provides the same protection and harmonic compensation as a 3% impedance input reactor.
• 12-Pulse Input
• In addition to the DC link choke described above, an optional input phase shifting transformer will provide a near sinusoidal input current waveshape. The 30 - 250 HP VP5 units have the necessary 12-pulse dual diode converter section built-in as standard. This option will typically be sufficient to reduce the total current harmonic distortion to below IEEE 519-1992 levels.
• Reliable Operation
• Built-in functions for current limit provide protection during acceleraion and during run conditions. Deceleration over-ride extends stopping time to prevent nuisance overvoltage trips. Speed search allows the drive to be started into a rotating motor without excessive current or tripping.

• Torque Control
• High starting torque and fast response time in the VG5 are assured by means of a full-scale flux vector current control. This directly controls the motor torque based on a control algorithm that utilizes a magnetic flux observer and fuzzy logic. In the open loop flux vector mode, the speed control range is 100: 1 with speed regulation of ± 0.2% from 0 to 100% load. For tighter control, the closed loop flux vector mode provides a speed control range of 1000: 1 with speed regulation of ± 0.02% from 0 to 100% load.
• 4 Quadrant Torque Limit
• A change in the load command from 0 to 180% results in almost no change in motor speed and tripless operation by use of true 4-quadrant torque limit control. Four-quadrant torque limit control can be used to limit regeneration on high inertia loads.
• Speed Response
• Changes in the motor speed command require an increase in the torque command to perform the necessary acceleration or deceleration. The VG5 can respond to a 50RPM step change in approximately 50mS. This VG5 servo-like performance is achieved through a unique fuzzy logic algorithm that optimizes the acceleration (C 1-01 ) and deceleration (C 1-02) times dependent on load conditions.
• Torque Response
• Fluctuations in the torque command are handled as easily as the changes to the load command and speed command. Again, the VG5 near servo-like performance is realized with a standard AC induction motor.
• Speed/Torque Control Changeover While Running
• The VG5 has the unique ability to operate in speed control or torque control and toggle back and forth through the use of one of the six multi-function digital inputs.

• Vector Control
• The V7A can be operated in either sensorless vector or V/Hz mode to allow you to match the application requirements. Our sensorless vector control affords superior torque and speed regulation characteristics. For pure simplicity or for multi-motor applications, you can always program the V7A for V/Hz.
• Communications
• Many users and OEMs have already recognized the benefits of serial communications with motor controllers. The lower cost of engineering and installation combined with enhanced flexibility make this an attractive low cost alternative to control wiring. Many products offer serial communications only as an option. The V7A comes with RS-485/422 capability right out of the box. No need to worry about special connectors or cables because the wiring is done directly on the terminal strip.
• Keypad with Memory
• The V7A offers many sophisticated functions not normally available in other micro-inverters. For example, the keypad can be used as a "copy unit" to conveniently download parameters into multiple drives. It uses Flash ROM to support custom software via an RS-232 port. The keypad can be remote wired with a simple telephone cable. The cooling fan can be set to run only during inverter operation to maximize MTBF. These are but a few examples that differentiate the V7A.



  SYSTEMS INTERFACE COMPONENTS


Signal Follower Model C10032-000

General Description:
• Model C10032-000 Signal Follower Card is designed to handle a multiple of applications in which signal conditioning is required without input or output isolation. Voltage signals from 0 to 1 VDC through 0 to 100 VDC can be accepted on the input and calibrated for 0 to 10 VDC or 4 to 20 mA on the output. Current signals such as 1 to 5 mA or 4 to 20 mA can be used as inputs and converted to 0 to 10 VDC or 4 to 20 mA on the output. A +15 VDC supply is available on the input terminal strip to source a 10,000 Ohm potentiometer that can also be used as an input reference source. Positive or negative inputs can be applied to the C10032-000 Signal Follower Card. The polarity of the output will be the same as the input signal. A terminal is also provided for an optional Summing Input. The Summing Input is inverted and summed with the main input to modify the output. Calibration is made simply by the use of three board mounted 20 turn potentiometers. The OFFSET pot. sets the null point with the minimum input from the reference source. The BIAS pot. sets the minimum output level desired with minimum input. The GAIN sets the maximum output level when maximum input is received from the reference source. An optional external Trim potentiometer can be used to trim the output manually or via a dancer. An on board single turn Trim Range pot. sets the range of trim available from the external Trim pot.




Signal Isolation Model C10209-000

Master Reference Model D10096-000

General Description:
• Model D10096-000 Master Reference Unit is designed to handle a variety of applications in which signal conditioning and multiple outputs are required while maintaining input to output circuit isolation. Each Model D10096-000 can supply four separate outputs that are each isolated from the master reference signal and also from each of the other outputs. If more than four outputs are required, two or more units may be ganged together. A variety of inputs are acceptable as sources for the master reference signal. A+10 VDC voltage is available to allow the master signal to be sourced from a 2,000 to 10,000 Ohm, 2 Watt potentiometer. The potentiometer signal is supplied through a linear acceleration/deceleration circuit with two selectable ranges. A customer supplied contact closure enables the acceleration/deceleration circuit and allows the reference to accelerate to a level set by the input potentiometer. The deceleration circuit operates whenever the reference is lowered. When the enable contact opens, the reference is zeroed immediately.
• Additional inputs are four selectable voltage ranges, three selectable current ranges and a square or sine wave frequency input. These inputs bypass the acceleration/deceleration circuit. Four identical output circuits are sourced from the master signal. Each output has separate OFFSET, GAIN, and BIAS adjustments to tailor the output signal. An optional Trim potentiometer input is also provided to allow the output to be remotely ratioed.




Frequency To Voltage CONVERTER CARD Model C10330-000

General Description:
• Model C10330-000 Frequency to Voltage Converter Card uses Carotron's innovative design techniques to convert digital pulse tachometer frequency signals to analog voltage suitable for tachometer feedback control or speed reference in motor control systems. Features such as sine or square wave signal input, optically isolated frequency signal, and multi-turn potentiometers for precise output adjustment help you get the most out of your Carotron motor control. Sine wave signals of 1 to 20 volts peak at up to 10,000 Hz or square wave signals of 10 to 12 volts peak at up to 20,000 Hz may be used as an input. The frequency signal is optically isolated from the output circuitry so that the signal may be used with digital instrumentation which may be grounded. An isolated +12 VDC power supply rated at 100mA maximum supplies encoders or magneto-resistor sensors. Input ranges of 60, 120, 240 and 600 pulses per revolution on 1750 base speed motors provide a nominal output range of 0 to 10 VDC. Multi-turn OFFSET and GAIN potentiometers allow precise adjustment for the desired output. P.I.D. Dancer Position Model D10541

General Description:
• Model D10541-000 Dancer Position Card, also referred to as a P.I.D. control, is designed for applications where dancer positioning is used to maintain control of motorized operations. This card is also suitable for most any type of P.I.D. control application. The electronic circuitry utilizes the Proportional, Integral, and Derivative functions to condition the output. Each function can be adjusted independently to control the amount of change in the output voltage. The output of the proportional circuit is a voltage level proportional to the dancer and position inputs. The output of the integral is dependent upon the reference applied to a 12 bit digital analog converter. The converter allows the circuit to ratio the reference input and provide a percentage of the reference as output. An isloated scaling circuit allows optional external voltage scaling of the integral circuit to condition for diameter or velocity changes. The derivative circuit adds to the output during changes in the dancer input. The response and level of the derivative function are independently adjustable to allow for flexible and stable operation. The output of the proportional, integral, and derivative are summed together to formulate the final output. This output can be further modified by an output range potentiometer. A summing input is provided to allow an
• external voltage to be summed directly with the output. A selection is supplied to change the function, addition or subtraction, of the summing input

Electronic M.O.P. (Motor Operted Pot) Model D10341-000

General Description :
• Model D10341-000 Electronic M.O.P. is an electronic replacement for a traditional motor operated potentiometer (M.O.P.) Through a combination of digital and analog circuits, Model D10341-000 provides a means to control a D.C. output voltage level via external contact closures for Increase, Decrease and Reset. The Electronic M.O.P. Card controls a 12 bit counter that counts clock pulses and increases, decreases, holds or resets the output voltage. The clock rate is adjustable to control the rate of change in output voltage. The 12 bit counter counts 4,096 clock pulses to transition from minimum to maximum output voltage. The output voltage can be controlled in the Unipolar or the Bipolar modes. Output ranges from 0.0 VDC to +10 VDC in Unipolar mode and from - 10 VDC and + 10 VDC in Bipolar mode. The range of the analog output can be controlled by two sources: ¥ + 10 VDC fixed reference on the p.c. board. ¥ External fixed or variable voltage from - 10 VDC to +10 VDC. A 12 bit Digital to Analog converter is provided. The converter, a four quadrant multiplying type, allows the circuit to ratio the reference input and provide a percentage of the reference as output. The output of the Digital to Analog converter is further modified by multiturn
• potentiometers for Offset, Gain, and Bias. A Summing input is provided to allow an external voltage to be summed directly with the output.

Frequency Divider Model C10368-000

General Description:
• The Carotron Model C10368-000 Frequency Divider Card is designed for applications where frequency division is required. The Frequency Divider Card will accept a square wave input signal and divide the signal by a factor of 1 to 9 (switch selectable). The output transistor allows 3 jumper selectable pull-up resistors to match output source requirements (470, 2.2K, and 4.7KOhm).




Optical Encoder Model TAC008-000

General Description :
• Model TAC008-000 is a 300 pulse per revolution Optical Encoder designed to mechanically interchange with a standard PY type D.C. tachometer. This standard mounting configuration simplifies mounting of the TAC008-000 Encoder to D.C. motors by using standard PY adapter kits available from the motor manufacturer. Electrical output of the TAC008-000 is a single channel square wave. The power supply for the unit can range from 8 to 28 VDC. Electronic Relay Model C10472-000

General Description:
• Model C10472-000 Electronic Relay Card is designed for a wide range of applications where process signals need to be monitored and give a relay contact signal when the process signal exceeds a set point. Model C10472-000 can monitor A.C. voltage inputs from 0 to 250 VAC, D.C. voltage inputs from 0 to 250 VDC, or D.C. milliamp inputs of 1 to 5 mAmp, 4 to 20 mAmp or 10 to 50 mAmp. Each input signal is conditioned by scaling circuits and then compared with an adjustable voltage level set by the PULL-IN potentiometer. When the scaled input signal exceeds the voltage level set by the PULL-IN potentiometer, the relay is energized. Two methods of set-up allow the relay to either be latched and reset by an external momentary contact closure or automatically reset when the scaled input voltage level reaches a level 1 to 10% less than the PULL-IN level. This percentage difference is set by the DROP-OUT potentiometer. Two Form "C"relay contacts rated 5 Amp at 110 VAC are supplied for interface to other equipment. An on-board LED indicates when the relay is energized.




Zero Speed Relay Model C10334-000

General Description:
• Model C10334-000 Zero Speed Relay Card provides a universal voltage sensitive relay circuit for use in ramp to stop logic for DC motor controls. Armature voltage ranges of 90, 180, 240, or 500 VDC may be sensed for logic control. A voltage input of any polarity is acceptable. Cortex®LT Industrial Control

General Description:
• The CORTEX® LT is a general-purpose micro-controller with flexibility for many different applications. Driven by a powerful DSP (digital signal processor) the unit has the speed and processing capability to handle even the most difficult tasks. The internal 64K word EE Prom and 64K word RAM provide ample memory for firmware storage and data processing capacity. Each CORTEX® LT is supplied with MS-Windows (98 and higher) compatible CORTEX® LT Link Software and a serial cable for interface between the CORTEX® LT and an RS-232 port on a PC. The Link Software allows specific firmware to be selected, configured and downloaded to the CORTEX® LT hardware. The Link Software also allows for calibration, monitoring, program storage and I/0 simulation.
• The “LT Builder” provides a simplified configuration guide for standard firmware selections. General Description:
• Model SMU100-XXX is a distance measuring device that uses ultrasonic technology to detect and measure targets up to 30 feet away. An Environmental Grade electrostatic transducer patented by Polaroid for use in their auto-focus cameras combined with Carotron industrial grade interface and processing circuitry provides reliable and accurate operation in a wide range of applications. Crystal time-based digital counters display distance to 1/10 foot resolution and give 12- bit resolution to the analog voltage output. The output voltage can be sourced from on-board positive or negative supplies or an external voltage can be multiplied by a percentage of distance. Distance is divided into four ranges to give maximum output resolution and to establish "valid echo" distances beyond which objects are ignored. The distance to an out-of-range object will be displayed up to 35 feet but the output will not change. Continued operation "out-of-range" for a programmable time period from 1 to 15 seconds will energize a Fault relay whose contacts can be used by the customer to sound an alarm, stop a machine, etc.




Accel/Decel and Power Supply Model C11698-000

General Description:
• Model C11698-000 Accel/Decel card is designed to handle a variety of applications where Accel/Decel functions are required without isolation. Inputs up to 10VDC maximum are acceptable sources. A +10VDC voltage is available to allow the input signal to be sourced from a 1,000 to 10,000 ohm potentiometer. The input signal is supplied through a linear acceleration/deceleration circuit with two selectable time ranges. The two time ranges are switch selectable for 1 - 60 seconds or 6 - 600 seconds with individual Accel and Decel potentiometers to set the time within a selected range. A customer supplied contact closure ÒenablesÓ the Accel/Decel circuit and allows the reference to accelerate to a level set by the input voltage or potentiometer. The decel circuit operates whenever the reference is lowered. When the enable contact opens, the reference is zeroed immediately. The unit also includes +-12VDC Power Supply outputs rated at 100 mA each for customer use.




Constant Tension Center Wind Model D10337-000

General Description:
• The Carotron CTCW (Constant Tension Center Wind) Control is designed for use with a torque mode drive to provide constant tension or taper tension control of a center driven winder. Web tension is regulated by controlling motor torque through varying levels of material roll diameter, line speed and line acceleration rate. These diameter, friction and inertia compensating torque signals are summed with other torque signals to further provide control of core tension, taper tension, stall tension and even Winder motor RPM when in the JOG mode. The CTCW can accept an external diameter signal or can calculate diameter from Line and Winder speed signals by an internal Radius Computer with memory. A +10 VDC reference is available for a direct contact rider roll compensator to measure diameter. The Line Speed signal input is isolated to allow use of existing feedback or process tachometers.

• The LCS01 Series of load cells uses LVDT type sensor to convert tension into a proportional electrical signal. The LVTD system provides precise, accurate tension measurement while the mechanical design allows for extremely high overloads without damage to the unit. As web tension increases, the resultant force F also increases. This causes the load plate to rotate minutely around the pivot point 0. This 0 point is a torsion
• bar which resists the force F. Due to leverage advantage, actual sensing roll movement is quite small. Movement of the core in the LVDT is proportionately
• larger. As the core moves within the LVDT coil, the output of the coil varies directly with the core movement, which varies directly with the force F.
• The output is thus proportional to F. The mechanical structure of the torsion bar and the mechanical limit stops on the load plate allow the LCS01

Digital Pulse Tachometers Model TCF060-XXX

General Description :
• The Carotron Hall Effect Ring Kits are designed to mount on standard NEMA C-Face motors and generate a digital pulse train proportional to speed down to zero speed. These kits can transmit signals up to 1500 feet without additional amplification, making them ideal for speed monitoring, speed feedback for motor control applications, counting, process control and ratio/draw application. The Model TCF060-XXX Ring Kits can be easily and quickly installed on foot-mounted motors featuring NEMA C-Face end bells or between the motor and gear box. Each kit utilizes a Hall Effect digital sensor and a magnet wheel with a hub bored to common motor shaft diameters. The sensor and magnet wheel are environmentally sealed and impervious to dust, oil and water. The output circuit of the TCF060-XXX sensor is an NPN open collector transistor. Many devices which accept a pulse input have internal pull-up resistors which are tailored to the input requirements. Carotron Trooper¨ and Blazer¨ motor controls are equippedwith internal pull-up resistors. The Carotron Model C10330-000 Frequency toVoltage Card, however, is not equipped with an internal pull-up resistor. A 4700 Ohm, 1/4 W, 5% resistor can be added between TB1-5 and TB1-8 to make the C10330-000 compatable with the TCF060-XXX Ring Kits. Precision Frequency To Voltage Converter Model C11451-000

General Description :
• Model C11451-000 Precision Frequency to Voltage card is designed to provide a means of converting digital encoder frequency signals to analog voltage suitable for tachometer feedback control or speed reference in motor control systems. Sine wave signals of 1 to 20 volts peak at up to 30 KHz or square wave signals from 10 to 12 volts peak at up to 100 KHz, 50% duty cycle may be used as input (110 KHz may be used if the square wave has no more than a 25% duty cycle). The frequency signal is optically isolated from the output circuitry so that the signal may also be used with digital instrumentation which may be grounded. Designed for use with Carotron non-regenerative and regenerative motor controls, Model C11451-000 may also be used with drives from other manufacturers if the feedback can be scaled to work with the nominal 12VDC output range. For regenerative operation, a buffered armature voltage signal must be supplied for the polarity switching circuit. This voltage must be positive with respect to circuit common when the drive requires positive tach feedback and negative when the drive requires negative tach feedback. An isolated +12VDC power supply rated at 100mA maximum is provided to supply encoders or magneto-resistor sensors.
• Input ranges of up to 1024 pulses per revolution on motors with a maximum speed of 6000 RPM will provide a nominal output of 0 to 12VDC. Multi-turn potentiometers for OFFSET, GAIN and BIAS are provided to allow precise adjustment for the desired output. For systems where the output voltage is to be used as a speed reference, terminals are supplied for an optional external TRIM pot. for either manual or dancer control. A single turn TRIM RANGE pot. is supplied on the C11451-000 unit to limit the range of the external TRIM pot.




Voltage To Pressure Transducers Model PTEE01-XXX

General Description:
• The Carotron Voltage to Pressure Transducer, Model PTEE01, accepts an electrical input signal, 0-10VDC, and converts it to a proportional output pressure. Model PTEE01 is a single loop unit consisting of valves, manifold, internal pressure transducer, and electronic controls. Pressure is controlled by two solenoid valves. One valve functions as inlet control, the other as exhaust. The pressure output is measured by a pressure transducer internal to the PTEE01 which provides a feedback signal to the electronic controls. This feedback signal is compared against the command signal input. A difference between the two signals causes one of the solenoid valves to open, allowing flow in or out of the system. Accurate pressure is maintained by controlling these two valves. Each unit also comes standard with a monitor output that can be used with a meter or data acquisition needs. The 0-10VDC signal is from the internal pressure transducer. Available accessories include a 15VDC, 300mA power supply and mounting bracket.




Current Sensing Board Model C10748-XXX

General Description:
• Quality Design
• Model C10748-XXX Current Sensing Board is a means of sensing AC and DC Current while providing isolation. There is a minimum of 1500 Vrms isolation between the sensed conductor and the card output. This unit is intended for use in systems to measure current in DC motors and line operated AC motors. It is also able to measure motor current out of Electronic Soft Starters. In this case the current range must be considered and the start current must stay in the range of this unit. It is not intended to measure output current from AC Variable Frequency Drives. When the unit is used to measure DC, it's output can have the same polarity as the current or it can have positive only output to indicate absolute level. The scaling is adjustable up to 10 volts full scale. The Bipolar Output matches the waveform of an AC signal within it's risetime limitation. The Unipolar output is rectified and filtered so only a DC voltage is available indicating the level of the current. When the unit is used for single phase applications, the bipolar output is to be 4 volts or less to avoid saturation due to the form factor of the current. The current range can exceed 600 amps depending on the current waveform and can handle a maximum of less than 10 amps by using multiple turns through the sensor. Calibration of the unit is dependent on use of an accurate shunt and voltmeter or ammeter to set the scaling.
